Help Us Take Control

Information and support

Having Parkinson's can feel overwhelming if you don't have the right information and support. We are your local support to help you  feel in control of life with Parkinson's.

Friends of Parkies

Friends of Parkies is a growing group of friends who either have, or care for someone living with Parkinson's.
It is an informal group who meet socially to exchange ideas and information in a relaxed atmosphere and  support other local groups or agencies.

WHAT IS PARKINSON'S

Parkinsonism is a term that covers several conditions, including Parkinson’s and other conditions with similar symptoms such as slow movement, rigidity (stiffness) and problems with walking.

JOIN US

Friends of Parkies is a charity based on the border of North Shropshire and South Clwyd which offers support for those diagnosed with Parkinsons. We meet socially every month to share information and help and support the most recently diagnosed who have difficulty coping with the prognosis. The group has a mixed age range so don't think you are too old or too young to come to our meetings. We are all here to help you realise - your not alone!

Rita Griffiths

I am Rita Griffiths and I was diagnosed with Parkinsons in June 2019 after having symptoms for 2 years. These included loss of smell, left sided tremors, walking with a shuffle and terrible handwriting. Friends of Parkies have shown great support and understanding to myself and David and we feel indebted to the group.
